GENCO was created in 1997 in Milpitas with the collective efforts of its members. It has been growing ever since its creation. There are about 500 GENCO families in San Francisco bay area alone and there are many more world wide. GENCO sponsors many events all around the year. The events are open to non GENCO families also. These range from Cultural programs to outdoor events like Picnic and Camping. GENCO draws its cultural values form its alma mater, Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana. It strives to provide value to its members in Bay Area and to the greater GNEC Alumni community all over the world.

Organization
GENCO is a Registered Non Profit Charitable Organization of Alumni ( ex-students, ex-teachers, ex-employees) of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhuiana, India. GENCO is a democratic organization and runs itself based upon a set of agreed upon laws. A governing body is chosen every year, at the congregation for birthday celebration of Guru Nanak. This body is usually chosen by general consensus but a secret ballot can be held if needed. Each member of GENCO can cast exactly one vote. The Governing body has the following structure and has a term limit of one year.

4. Board of Directors, 5 members, out of which 3 members are chosen for 1 year and 2 are chosen for 2 years.
